Q&A: Can you suggest a color printer for home use?
Question by JP: Can you suggest a color printer for home use?
I have a P4 PC with broadband internet connection at home. I am planning to buy a color printer, most probably an all in one, which can print, scan and copy. I hope my printing job will consist of documents, graphics and some photos and may be some good pcitures downloaded from the net. I would like to get advice on printers requiring less maintenance cost on ink catridges.I understand lots of new all in one pritners have been marketed recently. Thanks.

I like the HP all in ones because they usually only take two cartridges and I have one as well as two other hp printers and one espon.
I like the HP better.
P.S. it really does not matter about the computer unless you have a MAC and just about all of the HPs are compatible with MAC

I would go with a lexmark, that is what I have and I have a home business and it does great printing the graphics for my flyers and such. Also great with doing my family pictures for the scrapbooks and stuff. If you get one that is an all in one it will run you under $ 200.00 and the cartridges are not that expensive.
They do have some really expensive ones, but you can get a good one that just prints for less than $ 50.00.
If all you need is a printer then go with lexmark b/c you can get one for about $ 30. If you want to spend the extra money for a all in one. Go with HP. HP may not do so well with computers but their all in ones are great. I put links for walmart for the cheppys on Lexmark and HP
Okay, you gotta listen to this:
If you want an all-in-one printer that will do nice photos and color printing, you have to go with the HP C5180. The quality on everything it does it some of the best I’ve ever seen.
As far as economical printing goes, this printer uses a new technology by HP that vacuums out every last drop of ink from the cartridges.
There’s too much really to list about this printer so I’ve included a link to a review about this printer where you can learn more.
Here’s a link to HP’s current offerings. If I could give you any advice after 13 years of being a printer technician it would be STAY HP! There will be a ton of people advising you into another brand but not many if any can say they ACTUALLY repair printers for a living. I repair 17 brands but can only recommend 1 and it’s HP. Your budget will really determine how much printer you get. Buy the most printer you can afford as the ink or toner supply only gets cheaper with the better machines. Color toner machines although more expensive than inkjets, your cost per page printed and the mean-time- to-failure is much better. Buying a cheap machine is kind of like shooting yourself in the foot. Invest once at a higher level my friend and have years of happiness. Buy cheap and you’ll pay a much higher price in the end.
If you must pick an inkjet machine, pick it by the amount of ink carried in the cartridge and the resolution (dpi) / speed requirements you have. Often times spending $ 50.00 extra in a machine will save you hundreds of dollars a year in supplies cost.
Hope the above helps.

You may not know the name Gillette but he was one of the sharpest merchandisers ever and has been copied over and over….. Gillette Shaving Razors and Dispoable Blades. What a Godsend. No more stropping the old straight razor. Blade getting dull? Pop in a fresh, ultra sharp blrade in seconds…..
Gillette gave away razors, gave them. Because he sold millions of blades – trillions – who knows. A legend..
Buy a new printer at a ridiculous price, a give away, but you’ll have to buy my cartridges
Personally, I looked for refillable laser toner cartridges, among other things. Have not looked into newer stick type. Present printer has at least five years left before things happen.
