Digital Copier Maintenance

Digital copiers are helpful in so many offices these days because of the convenience of a multifunctional workcenter. Such copiers havedifferent functions like copying, printing, faxing, and scanning of documents and pictures. This can help save money for any business since they can easily buy just one piece of equipment.

Let It Breathe

Digital copiers must have room to cool off for them to operate properly.

Positioning of the digital copier must be in an open area that has no obstruction and whatnot. Every sidemust be accessible without having it closed in. This permits the heat to dissipate easily so it is not contained within the copier.

Clean Insides Often

Aside from letting the copier breathe, there should be a regular cleaning schedule so as to keep the internal parts working efficiently. You canopt for some compressed air to blow out any dust, dirt, and other particles from the inside of the copier. You can use glass cleaners in cleaning the flat bed, and internal parts. Make use of a soft cloth to wipe off the cleaner, and dirt, for a much cleaner, better working copier.

Remove Paper Jams Easily

Paper jams can actually be so annoying when you have to do a lot of copying. People tend to just rip out the paper to clear the jam. This can actually cause more damage to the digital copier which ends up in more jams. Remove the paper gently and in the natural flow of the paper. That can do the trick.

Keep Power On

Majority of digital copiers these days have a power standby that makes it possible for the printer to stay on, but not in operating mode. This standby mode is significant to the overall health of the copier, considering it lets the internal cooling fan to still operate after jobs without actually turning completely off. This will save the internal parts from overheating and failing.

Does a xerox machine actually use ink?

Question by NatBug: Does a xerox machine actually use ink?
I know this is a dumb question, but where better to ask it than here?

Answer by Eric C
No, unless you’re talking about an ink-jet printer / copier made by Xerox. Xerox copiers typically use “toner” which is a micro-fine powder that is fused to the paper.
