Q&A: Can someone explain to me what this means about printer interfaces?

Question by Kard Kardi: Can someone explain to me what this means about printer interfaces?
We are getting a new copier at work and someone from work sent me this email and I do not understand what this means. I know that most people may think this is common knowledge but I just don’t get it. Help me out before I respond.

“They will have an IT person come out and set up all the folders and printer
interfaces to any computers you would like. So the folders for scanning the computers to have print capability”.

Whats a printer interface too? No clue, please help!

Your computer will need to ping the printer to make sure they can talk to each other. Your luck the tech will do this for you. At my work we just have to do it all ourselves. Be sure to pay attention to what the tech does in case your have to un-install & re-install.

No worries!

What is a good inexpensive printer with inexpensive ink cartridges.?

Question by Jim: What is a good inexpensive printer with inexpensive ink cartridges.?
I want to replace my Epson stylus 900 printer with another inkjet printer. But I was wondering if there was one that used ink cartridges that are not so expensive ($ 27 for the color cartridge). Any recommendations or advice appreciated.

Answer by Sam
The best deal in a photo printer is the Epson Artisan 800 refurb direct from epson.com for $ 109 under clearance. It’s a wireless copier/scanner/fax/photo/CD printer with 6 individual ink cartridges for high photo quality. The best warranty in the industry. For two years, Epson will fedex a replacement and pick up the old one should you need it.

If that’s beyond your budget there are several models in the $ 50-$ 80 range with 1 year warranty like the NX415 and workforce 600.

Triple capacity ink cartridges for Epson are under $ 3 and you can get 11 free cartridges every month at http://www.ccs-digital.com/freeink.asp

Is it more cost-effective to print gray or black lettering on an inkjet printer?

Question by darshakay: Is it more cost-effective to print gray or black lettering on an inkjet printer?
My first instinct is that gray would be cheaper, because it would be less ink used than full black. However, I know that some copy machines use COLORED ink to print gray tones (which obviously costs more than black ink)…….

Answer by Nebojsa D
I am not 100% sure, but think that your second guess is the right one. Because when I was out of colour ink, and had filled only the black, my HP inkjet wasn`t printing the gray properly… The letters were ok, but the rest, some tabels etc were not. And when I had the colour one filled, than it started to prind properly.
I think that you should try to print a page of text in gray, but take out the colour cartridge, and see how the gray tone comes out. If it is fine, than I think that you can save some ink. But I think that it won`t save much.
Hope I helped a little.

Make Xerox Your Brand Of Choice

In the competitive market, a lot of printer companies fight neck to neck in order to prove their worth in the field of producing reliable toners and high quality printer products. There is an obvious wide array of choices to select from depending on a specific need. However, if one does not have the luxury of time to hunt for one suitable brand or if financial resources are limited to a certain amount then stop beating around the bush and head straight to the most dependable brand of toners and printer products. It is no other than Xerox.

Xerox has been existing in the circulation for several years already. With that said, it is safe to say that it stayed afloat because the consumers believe and patronize it. It has centuries of experience making it one if not the best option. This brand has made it through the ups and downs of the market. It is well aware of what the consumers like and dislike. Having all these knowledge and more, they sure do know how to make their clients happy with the services and products they offer.

Among the popular products they give are their high speed printers which can withstand immense amount of workload without any mishaps. To name a few of its printers, the Xerox Phaser 6280 has the capability to print 26 colored pages per minute and 31 pages if it is in black and white given that the paper used is the standard size of 8.5 x 14. Other than that, this specific printer is able to hold a minimum of 400 sheets of paper that can sbe maximized up to 950 sheets granted that the resolution is within a 600 x 600 dpi. As for the ink, it promises great quality based from years of development. Its processor is 400MHz which is considered to the best one out there.

But what makes this brand a crowd favorite is its budget- friendly price. More and more people, offices or companies opt to use this because the job it performs for them is way above more its monetary value. Just because it comes cheap, the end result is expected to be of low quality. In fact, it just is the exact opposite. So whether you are a small budding business or a giant company, you can really never go wrong with Xerox. It has brought printing into heights. It is even used not anymore as a noun but as a verb pertaining to reproducing copies as synonymous to Xerox. That is how influential it is.

Xerox Printer and Toner Products: Advantages and Disadvantages

In its field, the Xerox printer and its toner products have been the constant leader for decades now in terms of sales and customer satisfaction. The mere amount and volume of product variety coupled with the prime purpose of consumer satisfaction is really mind-blowing. Aside from the given fact about its quality, durability, reliability and cost effectiveness, Xerox has been able to maintain an approval rating of above 90% from its loyal and ever demanding customers. It is a sight for the eyes to these consumers who have been encountering lots of difficulties when dealing with printer errors while trying to manage large and small networks.

The efficiency, accuracy and precision don’t come cheap though. Xerox products are a bit more expensive than most of its competitors. But needless to say, the price is a real steal since the savings do come from increased productivity and a very low level of maintenance. This adds up in the long run, meaning fewer bills and less downtime. The old adage of ‘Once a Xerox customer, always a Xerox customer’ has been proven time and time again.  Xerox has been able to maintain and give out long term consistent results that continue to cater to the ever changing and increasing demand of their customers.

Xerox started way back the age of the copy printer market and have done innovations that made it the early and consistent leader of the world wide digital market. Throughout the years, Xerox has made a lot of advances and innovations. It is able to maintain a high mark, even in international standards. This can be attributed to their massive and extensive experience in the printing industry and their unwavering dedication to serve and aim for their customers’ all out satisfaction.

Xerox products are readily available only through the web or from a local seller, making Xerox accessible and reachable wherever you might be in the world.  This is geared to ensure that every query of any customer is attended and Xerox representatives are very eager to help you out and provide the right type of products suited for your printing needs.

If the material requires the same amount of ink, then yes. If you are printing and copying the same page then the ink usage is the same.

Q&A: “The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed.” On Win XP from Server 2003?

Question by jjg004: “The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed.” On Win XP from Server 2003?
I am getting the following message on my Windows XP clients after installing a new Brother HL-5250DN and a Xerox Phaser 8560N printers on our Windows 2003 server: “The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK. Otherwise, Click cancel and contact your network administrator or original equipment manufacturer for the correct printer driver.” The driver works fine if I install it as a local printer on each Windows XP machine. I’m using the same driver on the Windows 2003 server where I’m sharing the printers. I found a post that stated it could be due to security settings on the %systemdir%\system32\spool\drivers folder and I double-checked those settings. I even went as far setting the everyone group to full access on the spool\drivers folder, but that didn’t help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Answer by ogre351
We have a similar problem with a new Windows 2003 print server and Windows XP clients. The error occurs when connecting initially, if the driver does not exist on the client machine. If the error is ignored and another attempt is made to connect, the driver downloads to the client and print jobs can be sent successfully.

The Windows 2003 server is a replacement for a Windows 2000 print server that does not have this problem. By the way the ‘print$ ‘ share has the same exact permissions between the two servers and it seems by default the ‘Everyone’ group has read permissions set.

The only way I was able to fix this was to replace the print driver on the server with a digitally signed version. After replacing the driver, workstations were able to connect without this error.
